Truth & Reconciliation
October 5 | Discipleship Guide
Be Real Together:
Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DG, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DG share their story.
Read Together: Matthew 18:15–20 CSB
This passage outlines Jesus’ clear process for restoring broken relationships within the church. The goal of confrontation is always restoration, not punishment. When we deal with sin in love and humility, we protect the unity of the body and reflect the heart of Jesus. Christ calls us to be unified in obedience to His commands, confident that He stands behind His Church, and empowered by His presence among us.
The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.
What might change in our community if we actually practiced Jesus’ way of reconciliation?
Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.
- What stands out to you about the steps Jesus gives in Matthew 18? Why might His order matter in restoring relationships?
- How do you see truth and grace working together in the way Jesus calls us to handle conflict? What happens when one is missing?
- Jesus says the goal is to “win your brother.” What does that look like in our relationships today?
- How can we help create a culture at Bright City where people feel safe to confess, repent, and seek reconciliation?
Pray Together:
Take time to pray for one another and for our church family.
- Thank God for His patience and mercy toward us.
- Confess areas where pride, fear, or bitterness have kept you from pursuing reconciliation.
- Ask the Holy Spirit for courage to speak truth in love and humility.
- Pray for unity in our church—that Bright City would be known as a place of grace, forgiveness, and restoration.
- Invite God’s presence to bring healing in any relationships that need it this week.
