Hey there.

YOUR NEW, OLD FRIEND

MAY 4 | Discipleship Guide

Be Real Together:

Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DG, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DG share their story.

Read Together: ACTS 2:1-4 NKJV

On the Day of Pentecost, Jesus’ followers were gathered together in unity and expectation. Suddenly, the Holy Spirit came like a mighty rushing wind and filled the house—and their lives. They were empowered to speak and witness like never before. This was the birth of the Church, and it began with waiting, unity, and a deep openness to the presence of the Spirit.

The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.

How is the Holy Spirit inviting you into deeper friendship and openness this week?

Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.

  1. The Spirit came after the disciples had waited together in unity. What does it look like to wait with expectancy in your own spiritual life?
  2. “A vacuum must be opened” — is there space in your life for the Holy Spirit to move? What might need to be released or removed to make room?
  3. When the Spirit came, it didn’t just comfort—it empowered. Where do you need boldness, power, or renewal from the Spirit right now?

Pray Together:

Take time to pray with and for each other.

Suggested Prayer Prompts:
  • Invite the Holy Spirit to come and fill your lives afresh.
  • Ask for unity in your group and for a posture of joyful anticipation.
  • Pray for courage to be open to what the Spirit wants to say or do—even if it’s unexpected.

Next Steps:

This week, create intentional space to wait on the Holy Spirit:
  • Take 5–10 minutes daily to sit in silence and simply say, “Come, Holy Spirit.”
  • Journal what you sense, notice, or feel prompted to do.
  • Share with your group next week how the Spirit is becoming a closer friend.
