Living in the Light of the Gospel
APRIL 27 | Discipleship Guide
Be Real Together:
Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DG, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DG share their story.
Read Together: 1 Corinthians 15:1–6 CSB
This week, we explored the core of the Christian faith: the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul calls it the matter of “first importance” — that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised on the third day. This Gospel is not just something to believe, but a reality to live in. Jesus’ death defeated sin. His resurrection defeated death. And because of that, we now live as people of light — carriers of hope and healing to the world.
The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.
What does it look like to live in the light of the gospel this week — in your decisions, relationships, or rhythms?
Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.
- Paul says if the Gospel is not fully true, our faith is in vain. How does anchoring your life in the truth of Jesus’ death and resurrection shape the way you live?
- The Gospel begins with bad news — that we were dead in our sin. How does understanding the depth of that reality make the good news of Jesus more powerful and personal to you?
- Jesus’ resurrection is described as the “firstfruits,” a promise of what’s to come. Where in your life do you need resurrection hope and power today?
- Pastor Dan reminded us: You are Bright City. What would it look like to live as a beacon of gospel light this week — in your home, your work, or your neighborhood?
Pray Together:
Take time to pray with and for each other.
Suggested Prayer Prompts:
Suggested Prayer Prompts:
- Thank Jesus for His death and resurrection — for the Gospel that saves, restores, and sends.
- Confess the ways you’ve drifted from that truth or tried to earn your way instead of receiving grace.
- Pray for boldness to live in the light of the gospel and to carry that hope into your relationships and rhythms.
Next Steps:
Identify one way you can live “resurrection life” this week. It could be stepping into a hard conversation with hope, serving someone sacrificially, or intentionally speaking truth and grace. Share your step with the Group and follow up during the week for encouragement and accountability.
