Hey there.

MAKING WISE SPIRITUAL INVESTMENTS

APRIL 6 | Discipleship Guide

Be Real Together:

Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DG, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DG share their story.

Read Together: 2 Timothy 2:1–7 CSB

Paul charges Timothy to pass along what he’s received to others—investing not just in the message, but in people who will multiply the work. This kind of spiritual investment requires grace, discernment, faithfulness, and endurance.

The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.

Who is God inviting you to spiritually invest in this season?

Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.

  1. Investing with Grace:
    • Paul tells Timothy to be “strong in the grace” of Jesus. How do grace and strength work together when it comes to mentoring or discipling others?
  2. Entrusting the Treasure:
    • What has God entrusted to you—truths, experiences, Scriptures, lessons—that you can pass on to others? How are you guarding and sharing that treasure?
  3. Choosing Wisely:
    • Paul says to entrust the gospel to “reliable people.” What qualities make someone spiritually reliable or teachable? Are you becoming that kind of person?
  4. Multiplying the Mission:
    • Paul’s vision is not just addition, but multiplication. How might you take a step beyond encouragement and into spiritual investment—discipling someone who will disciple others?
  5. Counting the Cost:
    • Paul uses the metaphors of a soldier, athlete, and farmer. What do each of these images teach us about the cost and reward of spiritual investment?

Pray Together:

Take time to pray with and for each other.

Suggested Prayer Prompts:
  • Thank God for the people who have spiritually invested in your life.
  • Ask God for discernment in identifying someone you can disciple or encourage.
  • Pray for the endurance and grace to live out 2 Timothy 2:1–7.

Next Steps:

Identify one person you sense God calling you to invest in—through mentorship, discipleship, or intentional friendship.
Ask: “What do they need most from me right now?”
Then take one step to begin the investment this week—share a Scripture, ask a question, invite them to meet, or simply show up with encouragement.
