When God is Silent

August 25 | Discipleship Guide

Be Real Together:

Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DNA, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DNA share their story.

Read Together: Psalm 77 ESV

In this passage the Psalmist, Asaph, leads us through several movements that teach us as the body Christ "How to navigate our suffering without dwelling in it". Asaph process his grief and doubt even to the point of questioning God's favor(v7), character(v8), promises(v8), care(v9) and mercy(v9). However He doesn't live in his questioning, he eventually moves to reminding himself of God's deeds and his character(v10-15).

The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.

Consider what your walk with Jesus feels like. Are you in a season of doubt?  Does it seem like God is silent? Or are you in a season of abundance and ease?

If life and faith are hard at the moment, which of God's past deeds in your life will you call upon to remember?

What aspect of his character do you need to preach to your heart?

If life and faith are easy at the moment, which of God's deeds in your life will store up for future storms?

What aspect of his character do you need to celebrate and give thanks for?

Pray Together:

Take time to pray with and for each other.
