Dwelling Consistently in God's Word
June 30 | Discipleship Guide
Be Real Together:
Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DNA, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DNA share their story.
Read Together: Deuteronomy 6:4-9 CSB
In this sermon, Pastor Andrew acknowledged that we all need to be spending time with God in his word. However we tend to bring a self centered world view to the bible that keeps us from actually abiding with God in His word. If our goal is to become disciples of Jesus (with, like, do) then we need to read his word correctly by letting Him self define and express what He wants in our relationship through correctly dividing the words of truth.
The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.
Considering your relationship with Jesus, the Church and the Bible;
Do you tend to center yourself within these relationships or come with to them with a listening/interpreting approach?
Do you tend to center yourself within these relationships or come with to them with a listening/interpreting approach?
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.
- Reflecting on your own Christian discipleship, how can you ensure that your actions stem from being with God rather than just doing things for God?
- Considering the cultural influences we all interact with, how can you guard your faith and abide in Christ amidst a society that promotes self-centeredness and individualism?
- In what ways can you prioritize understanding who God is and aligning with His desires rather than projecting your own expectations onto Him, as discussed in the sermon?
Pray Together:
Take time to pray with and for each other.

Reading Scripture: Set aside focused time each day this week to read from a book of the Bible. We would encourage you to read through the book of James which is only 5 chapters long.
