Bridging the Gap: Incarnational Evangelism & the Alpha Journey

What do you think about the idea of evangelism? 

This Sunday, we got a taste of Alpha as a church family! Alpha is a fun dinner series followed by group conversations centered around exploring some of the big questions of life and the Christian faith. As we get ready to launch Alpha on September 20th, Pastor Sean shared a brief message on what it looks like to live on mission and share the life-changing message of Jesus.

Questions to Discuss

1. “I grew up in a family that believed in God, and even went to church every once in awhile. But I still had so many unanswered questions.” - Ryan (from Ryan's Alpha Story Video). Do you know anyone like this? Can you relate yourself? What are some questions you have about the Christian faith today?
2. You could say “living on mission” was at heart of Jesus’ ministry, yet while Jesus himself embodied the missional heart of God through his presence on earth, his selfless ministry, and his sacrifice on the cross — it’s not always reflected in his followers. Here is the tension some of us might feel: we have no idea where to start when it comes to sharing our faith with others. Reflect on your own life. Have you shared your faith with others before? If not, what holds you back? If you have, what have some of your experiences been like? 
3. "The early church didn't spread by Christians sitting on their hands or ignoring their neighbors. It spread because Christians shared the Gospel - news of Christ that they believed was "'Good.'" Why do you think the early church seemed more eager to share their faith than we do today? What do you think it would look like for us as the Church today and for you personally to live like the early Christians did in the way they shared the Gospel?
4. Is there someone in your life you're feeling compelled to invite to Alpha?
