Story of Discipleship
April 30 | DNA Guide
Be Real Together:
Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DNA, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DNA share their story.
Read Together: Philippians 1:15-20 CSB and Philippians 3:12-21 CSB
This Sunday, Robert Montgomery shared his personal testimony with us. His story included telling how other people’s examples (discipleship) helped form his expectation of adulthood and his role as a follower of Christ. He also shared with us of times when his own behavior influenced others' perceptions. He urged us to view the circumstances of our lives through God’s lens.
The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or DNA.
Who in your life has given you a model for what it looks like to be a disciple of Jesus?
Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DNA or for personal study.
- Have you told someone your personal testimony? Why or why not?
- Robert said, “If we struggle to see ourselves in the right light, we can’t see God in the right light.” What are your thoughts on this idea?
- What are some specific behaviors that disciples are called to show in their daily lives?
- How can we model forgiveness and grace in our interactions with others?
- Robert mentioned prayer and fasting when seeking answers from God. What role do these play in our ability to become disciples and to make disciples?
- How can we support and encourage each other as we grow as disciples of Jesus?
Pray Together:
Take time to pray with and for each other.
